MORE AWARD NOMINATIONS FOR “CUBA, LIBRE?”

The Seattle Film Festival has just nominated Cuba, Libre? for its “Best International Documentary Feature” film award. It will compete with six other nominated films for the top honors.

The film was submitted in the “Best Documentary Feature” award competition but this year SFF created a second “Best Feature Doc” category, “Best International Documentary Feature.”

 

The festival has also nominated Cuba, Libre? for the “Best Cinematography Documentary Feature” award.

Award winners are expected to be announced on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 and may be screened at the 2021 SFF event since the coronavirus prevented screenings before live audiences this year.

“Cuba, Libre?” Named A Finalist By Yet Another Film Festival

The Seattle Film Festival is the 65th festival to recognize Cuba, Libre?

SFF had originally planned to screen films before live audiences in Seattle this weekend. But those plans were nixed by restrictions imposed by the State of Washington to control the spread of the coronavirus.

The festival will announce award nominees and winners and the latter films may be shown at the 2021 edition of SFF.

“CUBA, LIBRE?” WINS A FIFTH “BEST DOCUMENTARY” AWARD

Cuba, Libre? scored its fifth “Best Documentary” award and its 19th award overall at October’s Peak City International Film Festival in Apex, North Carolina.

Because of the coronavirus this year the festival’s award ceremony was a “virtual one” with none of the winning filmmakers able to walk down the red carpet and receive their awards in person.

Here’s a short clip from the hour and half-plus event during which the award of a “Gaddy Gold” award to Cuba, Libre? was announced.

Cuba, Libre? has previously received “Best Documentary” awards from the Festigious International Film Festival, Hollywood Sun Awards, Canada’s Yes! Let’s Make A Movie Film Festival, and Mindfield Albuquerque festivals.

The film has placed second in the “Best Documentary” competition at the Spotlight Documentary Awards, Snowdance Film Awards and the Hollywood Forever Film Festival.

It has been a Semi-Finalist for “Best Documentary” at the New York International Films Infest Festival Sands Film Festival, 4th Rosarito International Film Festival, and Vegas Movie Awards, and a Finalist at the Highway 61 Film Festival, CV Indie Film Awards, Davis International Film Festival, Rome Independent Prisma Film Awards, Chicago Amarcord Arthouse Television Awards, and Roma Cinema Docs festival.

Cuba, Libre? has also been nominated for “Best Documentary” in these festivals in addition to the ones listed above: Move Me Productions – Belgium Film Festival, Romford Film Festival, and Top Indie Film Awards.

 

“Cuba, Libre?” Wins “Best Editing” Award

Cuba, Libre? has won an “Award of Excellence” for “Best Editing” in the September 2020 edition of the Vegas Movie Awards. It is the 18th award that the film has garnered.

The film was also a Semi-Finalist in the festival’s “Best Documentary” competition.

It is the second time that Cuba, Libre? has been recognized for its film editing.

It 2018 the Top Indie Awards nominated the film for its “Best Editing” award.

That festival also nominated Cuba, Libre? for its “Best Documentary Feature” award.

 

 

“Cuba, Libre?” Picked Again!

Cuba, Libre? has done it again!

For the 63rd time since its release in January of 2016 the documentary has become a film festival Official Selection.

In notifying filmmaker, Dick Jordan, of its decision to pick Cuba, Libre? for its festival this year the Southeastern International Film Music Festival said:

“Our programming team and judges wanted you to know that your work was exceptional…[and] we have judged your project to be an outstanding work and an official selection.

The festival is scheduled to take place both online from October 30 through November 1, 2020.

“Cuba, Libre?” Moves Up In Judging At Two Film Festivals

Cuba, Libre? has moved up in the rounds of judging in two film festivals.

The film is an official selection in Peak City International Film Festival – Take 6 (6th Annual) and is  now in the judging round for awards. Like many festivals this year it will take place online only on September 18-19 and the award show will be streamed live.

“Cuba, Libre?” is currently in the second round of consideration at the Vegas Movie Awards. A third round will take before the festival decides which films and scripts can be accepted as the Official Selections for this month’s competition which will take place on Sunday, September 6, 2020.

“Cuba, Libre?” Picked Once More!

Cuba Libre? has just been made a film festival Official Selection for the 5th time in the last 30 days and 61st time since it was released in January of 2016.

The San Pedro International Film Festival which will take place from November 5-8, 2020 online only due to the COVID-19 pandemic is that latest festival to select the documentary.

Cuba, Libre? is still under consideration by twenty more film festivals scheduled to take place this year and next in the United States and England.

“Cuba, Libre?” Chosen For The 60th Time!

For the third time in two weeks a film festival has made Cuba, Libre? an Official Selection.

The latest pick by Louisville’s International Film Festival marks the 60th time the film has been chosen by a festival since its release in January of 2016.

The festival will take place online from November 5th through 7th this year.
